JAMES H. BUCK DEAD.

James H. Buck, who lived on a farm near Shannon, from 1869 to 1908, when he and his family moved to Kansas City, died yesterday December 28, at 10:35 in the morning at his home in Kansas City, aged 79. He had been ill with a bronchial trouble for seven weeks, and. because of his advanced years, finally succumbed to it.

Mr. Buck was born in 1841 near Berkley Springs, W. Va., and was a veteran of the Civil war, having served in Stonewall Jackson's brigade. At the close of the war he went to Johnston county, Mo., where his marriage to Miss Sarah B. Frost occurred in 1868. Their union was a very happy one, and she survives him. A year after the wedding Mr. and Mrs. Buck moved on to a farm near Shannon where they lived until going to Kansas City to be with some of their children, who had positions there. Besides his widow Mr.Buck is survived by three sons and five daughters as follows. J. L. Buck. Excelsior Springs, Ed Buck, Purdin, Mo., Singleton Buck, Miss Minnie Buck and Miss Anna Buck, Kansas City. Mrs. C R Miller, Atchison, Mrs. Ernest Wolf, Seattle formerly Miss Ruth Buck, and Mrs. H. A Ray of New Mexico, who formerly was Mrs. Davis Buck.

James Buck was a splendid man whose strong characteristics of industry, honesty and kindliness won for him admiration, respect and love throughout his long and useful life.

The body will arrive in Atchison, Thursday morning at10:35 a.m. and will be token to the Sawin & Douglass chapel, where the funeral will take place at 1:30 that afternoon.  The Rev.  W. 0 Shank will have charge of the services. Interment  in Mount Vernon cemetery.
