Obituary.
Harry H. Barton was born Perrysburg Virginia, April 10th, 1840 and departed this life January. 20th, 1919, aged 78 years 9 months and:10 days.
A young man he volunteered in the Confederate army during the civil war, serving about. two years and eleven months, thirteen months a prisoner. His father James Barton, during the civil war left home on an errand and never returned, it is supposed he was killed. His mother afterwards lived with her sister Nancy who married Harmon Shumate. His brother Washington was killed at: the beginning of the civil war. Mr. Barton came to Kansas in 1872 and in 1873 secured his present home. He married Miss. Rachel Barton in January 1889, she died March 24 1914, leaving no children. He wasconverted and joined the M. E. church just a few days before he died. A niece Mrs Helen Henderson and a nephew Charles Francis and a friend John Etherington, all were loved as his own children. The services with a host of friends were left to mourn his death. The services was conducted by Rev. R. F. Lyon and the body laid to rest in the Burden Cemetery.
