DODGE CITY RESIDENT

DIES AT BLACKWELL

T. B. Rice, for many years a resident of Dodge City, died in Blackwell, Okla., and his body is being brought back to Dodge City for burial, according to a message received by C. A. Hulpieu of the Home Furnishing Co., who is the funeral director.  No information regarding the date or the cause of death of Mr. Rice was contained in the telegram.

Mr. Rice came to Dodge City in the late '70's.  He was a harness and saddle maker, which was a flourishing business in those days in the frontier town where the chief business was livestock raising. 

A few years ago, Mr. Rice, whose wife died several years ago, went to Oklahoma to live with relatives.  He has two sons, Harold and Welby Rice, the former living in Blackwell.

Services for Dodge Pioneer who Died in Oklahoma Saturday

Funeral service were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon from the Home Furnishing Co. chapel for Thomas B. Rice, 80, who died Saturday in Blackwell, Okla., of bladder trouble.  Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.  The services were conducted by the Rev. Charles D. Whitwam, pastor of the First Methodist Church.
